URBA Briefcase Messenger

A briefcase that becomes a backpack. The URBA is slim, with two main compartments that keep bulky things like chargers, cameras and drives apart from your papers. An elastic sleeve holds your laptop against the back of the bag, and the front compartment has a large zippered drop pocket. When it's time to walk, a T-strap on the handle clips to the shoulder strap and the URBA sits low on your back rather than high on your shoulders.

The leather is chrome-tanned oiled leather from the USA with black vegetable-tanned details, lined in black corduroy pigskin. Hardware is harness-grade stainless steel, and the major stress points are reinforced with leather and rivets. Each URBA is made to order, so allow three weeks. Made in our studio in Chelsea, Quebec, at the foot of King Mountain on the edge of Gatineau Park.

Main body: 42 cm across x 29 cm tall x 6.5 cm deep (16.5" x 11.5" x 2.5"). Front pocket: 38 cm across x 18 cm tall x 4 cm deep (15" x 7" x 1.5").

Keep it dry: if it gets wet, wipe it off and let it air-dry away from direct heat. Wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth now and then, and condition it with a natural leather balm once or twice a year. Store it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sun. Leather care guide
